What is an apartment?
An apartment is a suite of rooms: usually on one floor of a building, or in some cases on two (see our Q & A on duplex apartments). Sometimes you will find apartments in a building called an apartment building, or in the case of serviced hotel apartments, in an apartment hotel. Apartments in England are often synonymous with modern contemporary styling and in the case of the Place Apartment Hotel Manchester, boutique style luxury.
What is the difference between a flat and apartment?
The term apartment is more popular in the US and throughout North America than it is in the UK where ‘flat’ has been a more common term for describing private dwellings. Does the Place Hotel Manchester offer discounts for group bookings or long-term stays?
The Place Hotel Manchester offers a range of group friendly discounts and special offers. We can often provide hotel discounts for long-term bookings and provide a range of specialist packages for theatre and weekend breaks. The nature of the discount will be dependant on the number of rooms booked, or the length of stay. Please note that discounts may not be available at all on peak nights. Does the Place Hotel offer any packages for special occasions?
We often get requests from our guests for a special set-up in their rooms to mark a birthday, anniversary, valentine, etc. We have a wide range of cards perfect for that special person no matter what the occasion. Can I bring my own food and drinks to my Place Hotel apartment?
Of course you can. You are more than welcome to take advantage of your in room facilities and be totally self-sufficient during your stay. The Place Hotel is conveniently situated in Manchester Piccadilly within a short walk of Manchester Arndale food market, China Town, Sainsbury’s, Marks and Spencer and other leading supermarkets, as well as countless delis, organic food suppliers and independent convenience stores of all shapes and sizes. Does the Place Hotel Manchester have a car park?
The Place Hotel provides convenient, onsite, underground parking. The Place Hotel central Manchester car park is charged at only £9 per night.
Does the Place Hotel car park need to be pre-booked?
Pre-booking is not necessary for our central Manchester parking. Simply register your vehicle details with reception during check in and you will be allocated a parking bay. A polite reminder: failure to register your car may result in the vehicle being clamped.
When can I check in & out of The Place Hotel?
Check-in time is from 3:00pm everyday and check-out time is by 11:00am on the date of departure.
If an early check in time is requested prior to arrival, we will endeavour to meet your request. All early arrivals are subject to availability, and would need to be confirmed by the hotel prior to arrival. In the event we cannot accommodate your request, luggage can still be stored with our Reception, and access to the hotel car park would still be possible.
Late check-out requests can also be made, but are also subject to availability. We will always do our utmost to accommodate your request. Late check-out is charged at £10 per hour, and the latest possible check-out time is 2pm. After this point another night’s stay would be chargeable.
Can I bring friends back to my apartment?
Yes you can. Make the most of your canal-side views, feel at home and enjoy a social engagement or two. Until 11pm guests are permitted into your apartment, however we do operate a strict no party policy. We pride ourselves on the fact that our guests are respectful and courteous to their fellow guests.
Do the Place Hotel apartments include towels and bed linen?
Yes they do. Because we are a 4 star apartment hotel all apartments include fresh towels and bed linen as standard, which is replaced punctually every other day, unless requested otherwise.
Are the apartment rooms stocked with a hair dryer?
Yes. All Place Hotel apartments are stocked with a hair dryer. These can be found inside the chest of drawers in each apartment.
Do you provide a laundry service?
We do. A dry-cleaning service is available. All apartments also come with their own washer/dryer, iron and ironing board.
Do I need to pay a deposit in advance?
The Place Hotel only takes deposits on large group bookings, or long-term stays. In general we only require a credit or debit card number to guarantee a booking. No payment is taken in advance unless otherwise requested. Please note - no booking is guaranteed unless a valid payment method is given.
Do I have to pay any additional deposit upon arrival?
When you arrive at The Place Hotel reception on Ducie Street we will either pre authorise your card for an extra £50 or ask for a £50 cash deposit. This will enable you to take advantage of our bar and bistro restaurant on credit.
How do I arrange for someone else to pay for my room?
In the event of the person paying for your accommodation not being present at the hotel then we must have written confirmation that we are authorised to take payment from their card. Please request an authorisation form when making a booking.
How can I cancel a room?
Unlike some Manchester luxury hotels, all bookings at the Place Hotel Manchester can be cancelled free of charge, as long as the cancellation is received no later than 12pm on the day prior to your arrival. Please note no cancellation is valid unless it has been confirmed by the hotel, along with a cancellation reference number. Should you wish to cancel a booking, you can do so by post, telephone or e-mail. Please note, if you are cancelling by post, please send it via Recorded Delivery to ensure it arrives at the hotel promptly.
If you have booked via a 3rd party agent you can only cancel or amend your booking directly through that agent. Other terms and conditions may apply to 3rd party bookings.
Do you offer special Manchester corporate hotel rates?

Will it cost me more if I need to add an extra person to my booking?
No. In fact, it may save you money. All reservations are charged per room, not per person. The price you pay will be the same whether one person is staying or four, as long as you do not exceed the maximum occupancy of a room.
Do you provide cots?
As an apartment hotel which prides itself on being a family friendly Manchester hotel we are happy to provide cots in all rooms, upon request. There is no additional charge for including cots in your family apartment. We welcome families with small children and will do all we can to make your stay an enjoyable one.
Is it possible to request extra beds?
We cannot offer extra beds in our one bedroom apartments, or our standard two bedroom apartments due to health and safety reasons. However, we have recently started offering our family apartments with different bed configurations. Does The Place Hotel provide wireless broadband?
The Place Hotel Manchester provides complimentary wireless broadband. Please request your access code from our reception to use our wireless broadband services.
Does the Place Hotel serve breakfasts?
The Place Hotel Manchester serves fresh continental and full English breakfasts from our bistro style restaurant every morning.
